Hello all,

6th Grade-
These guys are finishing up their Hyperstudio Wellness project for health class. This is a rather large project that will take about a month or more to complete. The students track their heart rates in gym, what they eat during a weekday and weekend and finally how many hours they sleep each night for a week. All this data is then put in Excel and they decide what graphs best show this data.

In Hyperstudio the students create a multi-media presentation that they will present in health class. They add sound and pictures and make buttons to move from stack to stack presenting diet, physical activity, sleep and key terms. This project requires layers of planning and organization in order to keep this project on track.

7th Grade-
The students just finished a Tool Guide in PowerPoint. Next year, in 8th grade students will take the Technology/Engineering MCAS and some questions require the students to know about tools. They designed the backgrounds for the PowerPoint using their Photoshop skills and created a tool guide with pictures and descriptions of various tools. They will save this in their personal partitions on our network and will be able to refer to this as a study guide for next year.

They are currently working on a nutrition unit for health where they are using various data from the Internet to calculate the nutritional values of different food from restaurants they sometimes attend. They will then choose one of the restaurant and make a flyer sharing what they have learned. It's funny to hear the 'that's alot of salt' or 'I'm not eating that again' from the students as they do their research.

8th Grade-
With the MCAS Technology/Engineering test right around the corner we are still studying the engineering design process, the manufacturing process, bridges, the communication process and universal design. After the test the student will brush up on their Photoshop skills; we will see what they remembered from 7th grade.
