Welcome to Sixth Grade and WBMS!!

Parents and Students,

We are so excited to have you on team 6E this year! I teach sixth grade Language Arts, Reading, and science. This website is used to inform parents of MAJOR projects and tests/quizzes this year only. Daily homework will not be posted. Please use your student's agenda to check what homework is assigned. We try to check agenda's as frequently as possible to make sure student's are utilizing it for all classes.

We are going to have a great year in sixth grade!

HAS YOUR CHILD BEEN READING THIS SUMMER??

High 5 for 25 is WBMS's reading initiative to fulfill the state requirement that each child should read a minimum of 25 books, or a million words, every school year.  This goal has been broken down into six due dates throughout the year. There is a tracking log in the students' agenda for students to write down the book and number of pages once read. Students will also complete coupons complete with a short summary for each book. The coupons are to be turned into their Language Arts class. The first due date for one book read is August 21st. ANY BOOK READ DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS COUNTS TOWARDS THEIR 25 BOOKS. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WRITE DOWN ALL BOOKS READ THIS SUMMER IN THEIR AGENDA. There are due dates throughtout the year where LA teachers will check for 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 books read. ANY BOOK THAT IS OVER 300 PAGES IN LENGTH COUNTS AS TWO BOOKS! Additionally, 600 pages counts as 3 books, and 900 pages counts as 4 books.
