Many of you may be wondering what a schoolwide Title 1 school is. I will be providing information that will help answer this question. What is Title 1? It is a federal program to help all students get a good education and meet academic standards. Title 1 can help the whole school. A schoolwide Title 1 program allows schools that qualify to use Title 1 money to pay for educational programs for the whole school. (Schools with 40% or more of the children from low-income families qualify for schoolwide Title 1 programs.) Your child can benefit. A schoolwide Title 1 program can offer services and programs that can help improve your child's education. A good education can give our child a better chance of success in life! Schoolwide Title 1 programs offer many benefits. These include: Improved programs such as;
Equal treatment of all students All students are held to the same high standards. Fourth grade will be looking at two very famous people this week. Amelia Earhart is famous for a solo flight across the Atlantic ocean. Her story is a historical fiction about a friendship she had with Elenor Roosevelt. The other famous person is Duke Ellington. This nonfiction story is based on the jazz players life. These are just more of our American Stories theme. First graders, how many pets do you have at your house? What kind of pets do you have? This week we will look at a great book called Teacher's Pet. You will be amazed at all of the pets that the class brings in. We will also work on the (et) word family and the short Aa vowel sounds.
