First graders continue to read, read, read, and read some more. After Christmas they are on their way to mastering the computer program "Reading Counts." After reading a book, the student takes a computer quiz. Each story has approximately 30 questions. The computer randomly picks 10 questions for the student to answer. The questions are in the form of multiple choices. These are excellent comprehension practice tests for students. Parents we encourage you to get involved with this. The books are in our school library and are marked with a yellow dot on the binder. The children are allowed to check these books out. Also, individual classrooms keep a selection of these books that the students can read in their spare time or take home to read. Remember the more they read, the better reader they will become.
