Enrichment homework for 09/18/08

I bet you thought I forgot!!! Here goes:

1.  Bring your notebook to class tomorrow.  

2.  The quiz question is this:  What is the name of Charlie's school and what is she selling now that he pencil business has PLUMMETED?  You need to come in to class tomorrow for these answers in order to claim your prize.  

3  It is snack day tomorrow.

4.  The writing prompt will revolve around a debate.  Who do you think is right? Charlie or Mrs. Hayamoto?  That is what you will be writing about in class as well as making connections in the book to your life.

5.  Do you remember what deftly means?  How about alliteration?

6.  See you tomorrow.

Enrichment:  Remember to bring in your pictures for creating healthy lunches for Charlie.  

Picture day is tomorrow.  Don't forget to smile and if you want to buy the pictures bring in your money and order form to give to the photographer.

AVID HOMEWORK:   Remember to write out your learning logs for this week and submit them to class tomorrow.   Also in class we will be working on our gears and then creating our own cuneiform alphabet.  Tomorrow, we will also be writing another question for the tutors for Monday's class.

ENRICHMENT:  Read

LANGUAGE ARTS/LITERACY for A-1, A-2.   You have a test tomorrow on Cornell Notes, including everything we have been learning about in class in the mini lessons.  Also, your vocabulary is due in your response journals.   Keep reading your novel over the weekend.

 Academic Enrichment for Tuesday 02/10/09

Tomorrow we will continue our charts for the comparison and contrasting of five versions of Cinderella.    On Friday we will be doing some critical thinking about Jack and the Beanstalk.  FYI:  You are all doing a great job on your charts.  They look great

A-1 Reading - Book Clubs

Vocabulary 7 words are to be done for Thursday AM.   You are to pick seven words tonight from the Sarny list.   Then you are to look up the word, the part of speech, the definition and write a creative, intelligent mind boggling sentence illustrating your understanding of that word.   Also, read up to page 133.   The next chapter is great.   Why is Sarny so happy?   What is the name of her next husband?  Do you read for meaning or read to just get it done?????  Sometimes you have to read the text twice to understand it. 

A-1 Don't forget to bring in your book that you are reading at home.



A-2 Bring in your friendly letter and your subject and predicate paper if you did not hand it in today.

I am trying out my new school notes tonight.   I am excited to have A-2 as my enrichment class this quarter.   I am excited to share all of the strategies I have for Charlie Pippin.   Do you remember what chartreuse is?  If you do, and you can tell me tomorrow, I will give you a prize.
