Honors English IV and Honors English III:
Weekly WordSkills Tests

Friday we will have a WordSkills test. The students get half the words on Friday and the other half on Monday so they can begin studying all week and over the weekend. The test is matching the word with its definition. The student will also have to fill in the appropriate word in the sentence. I'd appreciate your help with your students studying all week with flashcards or mini-quizes. I'm noticing that those who study make a good grade and those that don't, it is evident. The words are kept in a special spiral bound book given to your student. This book is to come to class each day for review and activities. Beyond that the student is to study each week prior to the FRIDAY test. I have provided a link that will allow you to make your own flash cards on line for those that need to study wordskills words. For additional practice with wordskills type words I have placed a link at the bottom of my page known as Free Rice. This is a non-profit website that allows people to test their vocabulary skills while winning rice to African countries and it costs you NOTHING!!!

Honors English III:

You will find a link to my syllabus at the bottom of my page. I do not have enough copies for you to each receive one but I will go over it in class on the first day and hold you accountable to everything in there. You may use the link to print yourself a copy.  Also, there is a link to the Graduation Project Student Handbook. You may look through that and ask me questions at anytime regarding this project. I have also attached my due dates for the various sections of pages you will be submitting.  Topic selection begins the first week of classes and research begins the second week. First Due date of 2 pages and 2 sources is Feb. 17th.

Honors English IV:

You will find links to various Graduation Project items at the bottom of my page. You will need the table of contents, ethics pledge, mentor sheet, product plan, and other items you are not going to download. I have built 4 days into going to the MacLab to type pages for your portfolio. It is important you are here for those days. They will be announced in class in advance.  You will be required to present your Graduation Project and Product to the class BEFORE you will be allowed to present it to the community. Dates will be chosen in March for those presentation times. The Graduation Project Portfolio, Product, and Presentation will all be counted in my gradebook for 2 test grades apiece.

All Classes:

Please feel free to use the above link to my school email address. I try to return all email within the same day, if not by the next morning during my planning. I also do not offer specific tutoring but I am after school most days until 3-3:30pm. The 2nd Monday of each month I do attend a faculty meeting and there are times other meetings arise but I try to make every effort to be available for my students after school. Parents, thank you for all the work you are doing at home to make sure your child is learning and being successful at school. Please make sure they are getting a good night's rest. Thank you again for your support.
