Dear Family,
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MAY STUDENT OF THE MONTH, Mackenzie Corts (Mac)!
Please initial your child's Student Agenda each day for his/her Behavior Mark and assigned homework. Check the sleeve in the back of the agenda for vocabulary/spelling words/homework assignments. I am going to send these typed each week to help parents better understand the words since the writing space is so small for second graders and takes a long time for some to copy.
Encourage your child to bring home a color of blue each day. Remember, Agendas will be checked on Monday this week.

Please call on me anytime that you have a concern about something that is going on in the classroom. I welcome your visits/phone calls/e-mails/texts/ and notes. Refer to the contact sheet sent home in your child's binder or e-mail me using the link above at this site.
I hope that my lesson plans being on-line will help you assist your child at home with school assignments. Remember our school motto: Learning Takes Three: Parent, Teacher, and Me (student). The purpose for placing my plans on-line is for you to be better informed. Also, I want you to see what goes on in the classroom so you can help carry over the learning in your home. Daily Schedule 7:45 - 8:00 Journal Writing 8:00 - 8:15 Roll Call, Lunch Count, Pledge, Bible Story 8:15 - 9:30 Reading (Phonics), Spelling, and Handwriting (Bathroom Break also) 9:30 - 10:15 Activity Time (It will vary each week.) I will post this on Monday when I am back at school. 10:15 - 11:15 Reading Comprehension (Bathroom Break) 11:15 - 11:45 Lunch 11:45 - 12:15 Reading Comprehension/S.S., Science 12:15 - 1:00 Language 1:00 - 2:00 Math (Bathroom Break) 2:00 - 2:30 Recess 2:30 - 2:45 Shared Reading from the Teacher 2:45 - 3:00 - Pack and go home (Bathroom Break)
Phonics/Reading Since we are finished with our Phonics Program, we will use this time for review previous skills taught during the year. These skills will change each day and cover all subjects. Take an achievement test on the day when all students are present. This will be a post test to compare with the pretest given at the beginning of the year. This test will not be in the grade book. Spelling
We will review words we have had this year and prepare for the Spelling Bee that will be on Monday, May 14th.
We will review second grade reading skills taught throughout the year. Students will take the MCT2 3rd Grade Practice Test Tuesday through Thursday. Language We will review language skills taught throughout the year. Students will take the MCT2 3rd Grade Practice Test Tuesday through Thursday.
We will review skills from all eight math units for the year. We will take the MCT2 3rd Grade Practice Test Tuesday - Thursdy. |
