MAY  NEWS

New Library Hours

Beginning on Monday, May 11, the media center will be open every morning at the regular time of 8:50 a.m.  Still come to checkout a book.  The last day to checkout is May 18.

Overdue Library Books

All library books are due on Wednesday, May 20.  Students have already been receiving overdue notices and will continue to do so until June 1.  If your child has lost the book, he or she will need to pay for it by June 3 to insure that the report card is mailed on time.  Another alternative is to replace the book with the same or similar title; please contact me in advance before doing so in order to buy an appropriate title.  For example, I would need to tell you if the book is hardback, softcover, or a paperback so that you would know what type of binding to consider.  If you pay for a book but find it later and return it in good condition, we will gladly refund the money

Because the media center is open at 8:50 a.m. and after school until 4:30 p.m., there is ample time for students to return books.  If time is required to resolve the situation, I will write a note to the teacher explaining why your child is late to class.  Please call me at 247-5941 if you have any questions about books that your child has or has not returned.

                              SUNSHINE STATE

On May 27 the Media Center will be having an End-of-the-Year Extravaganza for our Sunshine State Readers!  These students have read at least six books and have earned the right to participate in this exciting party, which will include lunch, games, ice cream sundaes, scavenger hunt, and other surprises.

Parents, it is not too late for your child to complete either the computer quiz or crossword puzzle to verify that he or she has read 6 of the 15 contest titles.

(See all Sunshine State books in chart at bottom.)

(Be sure to check out the 2008-2009 list for the May 27 Extravaganza!)
