Congratulations on being enrolled in Journalism!! (Yearbook/Creative Writing students - scroll down.) Here are some things we've been working on this year:

Week One: What is Journalism?

Week Two: Letter to the Editor and Editorial Cartoon

Week Three: The Five Factor of Newsworthy Stories & Collages

Week Four: Student Interviews

Week Five: Feature Article: Interview with a Classmate

All assignments are to be completed in class. Students wishing to go above and beyond may work on them at home. Very rarely is homework assigned. It is for these reasons that I do not accept late work simply because class time was wasted. Students who are eligible for grade recovery under county policy may complete work as directed.

Donations:
I am always looking for supplies to be used for my students. We frequently are in need of white or colored printer paper, pencils, tissues, baby wipes (to clean white boards) and hand sanitizer. Any help is appreciated!
 

Speaking of supplies, here are some photos from my trip as a volunteer teacher in Jamaica! You can see just how lucky we are to go to Fletcher Middle School. If you'd like to help the kids in Mt. Vernon, see me for more details!

Congratulations on being selected for the yearbook staff! By now you have signed and returned your yearbook contracts. Remember that everything you do determines how great of a role you play in the yearbook.

Fieldtrip Info:

The fieldtrip I'd like to take is to the Florida Scholastic Press Association workshop. The workshop is on Saturday, Oct. 24th at the University of Florida. I need parent volunteers to drive! We get to learn about the yearbook and get a campus tour!! Parents, email me if you can drive and let me know how many your vehicle will safely hold.
