10-23-08

 Parents,

I need help.  I would like a computer savy parent to help me make email folders so I can send out emails by core classes.

I also need someone to help me make pattrerns and cut out fabric for a Christmas project I hope to have the students make.  I have a snowman on a bag and we make this to send home a gift of writing at Christmas.  The deal is-- it is very time consuming and requires cutting out 110 sweaters peices, hundreds of mittens, and hats.  I have an example to show and use.  Is there any one who can help?

Fondly,

Nancy

10-07-08

Greetings,

This is a short week with no school for students on Friday.  We will have our vocab/grammar test on Thursday.  It's lesson 7 for vocabulary(all exercises should be completed) and the grammar section is on apostophes and subject verb agreement.  The homework is page 125 on possessive pronouns on Tuesday night.  That is a worksheet on possessive pronouns. Page 127 is homework for Wednesday night, and that is a worksheet on subject verb agreement.  I will incorporate simple subject and complete subject as well as simple and complete predicates into the quiz.  I have taught those last week and will review this week.

A big thank you to James Herring's mom who supplied some much needed books for our classroom.

Have a great week.

Nancy Gervais

10-01-08

1. We will have lesson 6 vocab test on Friday.  All of these exercises should be done. 2. Please question your child about their progress in Walk Two Moons.  I'd like the groups to work as one and everyone should be on the same chapter.  By next Monday cores 1 and 4  need to have read through chapter 22.  We go to the library on Wednesday(10-01) to research Indian dances, as part of the enrichment  activities.

Every  week students have reading logs they need to have initialed.  Please keep your children honest.

9-22 through 9-26

We continue to have weekly vocabulary and daily DOL.  This Friday I will have our first DOL test.  We took our first Blue Diamond test of the year and I will get these scanned as soon as I get my grades entered.  Boy, grades take twice as long now that we have all the data entry to do.  I miss the good ole' pencil paper days sometimes!

We are starting "Walk Two Moons" on Wednesday and I will set this up in literature circles with each member having a job.  I still have many students in 2nd and 3rd core WITHOUT books, so this will be problematic.

As always vocabulary is homework.

9-15 through 9-19

My account was not accessible last week, and I apologize for no schoolnotes information..
Daily we have grammar to correct, vocabulary to learn, and reading or writing skills to hone.  Currently we are reading Rudyard Kipling's short story "Rikki Tikki Tavi".  We will follow that with a critical analysis essay that I have already introduced to the students. The due date will be Wednesday of next week.
I also assigned a verb sheet for the classes to do for homework.
Vocab quiz every Friday.
Please email me with any comments.
