Reading logs are checked each Friday.  Students are required to read a minimum of fifteen minutes M-TH. (Parents:  Please sign the log on Thursday night.) 

 Additional reading is strongly encouraged and the belief, "The more you read, the better reader you become!" is expressed on a daily basis.

 Students have set individual goals to read a certain number of books on grade level by June 10th.  We have discussed how important it is that students choose books that are "just right".  Books that are too easy or too hard will not help the student become a stronger reader.  The purpose of this challenge is to motivate students to read.  No grades will be assigned, but incentives and words of encouragement will be given.  (Parents, please sign off on the sheet in your child's Star Notebook as books are completed.)

I would like to encourage all students to try out for the 2009-2010 Battle of the Books team!  There are a lot of cool and exciting books on the list this year!
