Let me introduce myself, my name is Richard Austin and I am one of the counselors here at North Rowan Middle School. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-6 from High Point University and an Advanced Masters of Science in School Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. As a school counselor, I counsel students individually. I facilitate group counseling such as Life Skills for Success and Take Control of Anger. I am on the Student Assistance Team Committee which provides strategies for students who are struggling in academics and/or behavior. I coordinate the peer mediation program. Each teacher recommends 14-16 students in grades 7th and 8th grade who display leadership skills and positivie attitudes. These students go through a rigorious two-day training at the beginning of each school year. After the training, these students are ready to take on the challenges of their peers. I look forward to working with you and your child. I can be reached at (704)639-3018 Ext. 126 or through email. |
