Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend with your family and friends! School reopens on Tuesday, May 29th!
Today I am sending home our last reading assessment. Please sign and return on Tuesday. The children have come very far with reading skills. Many are reading independently. Some are still working on their word wall words. No matter what step of the reading ladder your child is climbing, please continue to develop those skills over the summer. Reading to them and also with them should be a daily activity! Visit the library and participate in their summer reading program. If your child is still working on Wall Words, continue to practice with fun games like concentration using index cards or make bingo boards and write the words they still need to practice. Not only will it help with reading in first grade but it will also be time well spent with your child!
Math assessments came home yesterday and should have been returned today. We just started our last Math chapter. It is counting and number patterns to 100. We have been practicing much of this all year. We will use this as a review. If we do not finish, we will send the booklets home for summer days! There will be no end of chapter assessment. Practice numbers over the summer. Some are still working on number formation and keeping our numbers from "walking backwards"! In first grade the children will be expected to write numbers correctly during assessment times! Fun at the Lehigh Valley Zoo with our 8th grade buddies!
We have been busy practicing our songs for our BIG DAY! I will send home our "lines" to practice on Tuesday! Most families have fulfilled all financial obligations to the school. The final day is June 1st to have all gift certificate purchases completed in order for your child to participate in graduation! Thank you for supporting our school.
Picnic forms need to be returned by tomorrow so the class moms can plan and shop and coordinate with first grade!
Fancy Nancy loves to use $10 words!
Click the screen to hear the story, Fancy Nancy: Bonjour, Butterfly ! You can also access many other books through the Barnes and Noble site when you are finished!
