AR Points

Please encourage your child to read and take AR tests weekly.  This is a test grade for LA.

Point values….

10 points = 100 A+

  9 points = 95 A

  8 points = 90 B

  7 points = 85 B-

  6 points = 80 C

  5 points = 75 D

  4 points = 70 D-

  3 points = 65 U

  2 points = 60 U

  1 point  = 55 U

Please encourage your child to read and take AR tests even after they reach their 10 points for the nine weeks.  If a student has 41.3 points at the end of first nine weeks and only has 6.8 points at the end of second nine weeks, I would combine some of the points earned first nine weeks with second nine weeks.  In other words, if a student is consistently reading and taking AR tests, I will work with them when they exceed the 10 points each nine weeks.  I want students to read, read, and read.  It has been proven that students, who read everyday, tend to do better in school academically.

Homework News

Homework is given daily.  Please see your child’s assignment sheet in their homework folder.  Please sign the assignment sheet daily.

Homework Grading Policy

Each student starts with a homework grade of 100 in Science, SS, Math, and Language Arts. For each incomplete homework assignment 5 points is deducted from that subject’s 100.  The grade at the end of the nine weeks will be averaged with other grades to determine the final subject's average for the nine weeks.

Parties

We have two parties each year; CHRISTMAS and VALENTINES.

MAP Testing

Students will complete the Language Usage MAP test on Tuesday morning.  This test will help determine possible PACT scores in May.  It will also help me decide on weak areas to reteach.  Students need a good night’s rest and a good breakfast before this test Tuesday morning.  Students should come to school with an “I will do my very, very best on this test attitude.”  These tests, along with PACT tests, are used to determine placement in Middle School classes.  Only one student did not increase on the Math MAP test last week.

                    95.2% increased.

                       SUPER!!!!!
