               Welcome to to Physical Education on line

              and to another terrific year of Physical Education!


   Grades K-3  began the year learning and reviewing fire and safety drills along with many basic movement skills; spacial awareness, body awareness, pathways, levels, locomotor movements, chasing, fleeing and dodging to name a few.  Our STAR reward system is in place looking for children who have exibited good effort/behavior while in class.  Ask your children if they have earned one recently!


    4th and 5th graders began the year reviewing fire and safety drills along with units of Field Hockey and Football!  We learned how to use a combination lock and each child was given a lock of their own.  *Sneakers must be worn in class along with an appropriate change of clothes different from those worn to school.  Please read the district letter sent home with your child for more information on dress as well as medical excuses, jewelry, mouth guards, fitness testing...

  
    Waverly's walking/jogging path program continues this year thanks to another grant from the Sachem Teacher Center! The children have taken home permissison slips to join The Mileage Club to see how many miles they can walk/jog in the weeks ahead. This year, children will again earn plastic feet, mile markers, and a chain to showcase them on, along with certificates that proudly display the distance they have walked.  Please feel free to walk the course any time after school with your family!

  *Congratulations to all the Waverly runners who participated in the Jeff Stone memorial Cross Country run on Columbus Day! 

Our 5th grade girls are Waverly's first Team Champions!  They are:  Cynthia Brand-Top 10 finisher!, Darielle La Furno, Carly Napoli, Anna Lombardo & Emily Salonia!

Honorable mention to our 5th grade boys:                Jonathan Hart - Top 10 Finisher!, Bobby Haughie & Brian Rinfret!

4th grade boys and girls - ALL Top 10 Finishers!:          Kaitlyn Wolff, Jessica Freund & Gabe Carrieri!

Special recognition to 3rd grader Shannon Biesty who chose to run with the 4th graders and placed 3rd in the District!
