Parents and students:  Welcome to my page but note my new URL as many of us are moving to a school board site that also hosts your child's grades.  Parents, the passwords are available in the main office upon the presentation of an official ID.  With the busy teaching schedule, I will try to update my gradebook once a week but I do keep a paper copy of the grades until I can get into the Internet to record them there as well. http://dcps.oncoursesystems.com/school/webpage.aspx?id=783221

This new page mentioned above will also have the topics that will be covered each week in class.

THIS WEEK  November 9-13

6th Grade:  This week the students are finishing the unit on Earth's Changing Surface.  In this unit we looked at weathering, erosion, deposition, and changing landforms.  This week we will concentrate on landforms and plate tectonics.  We have a quiz on Friday to finish the unit.  The next unit will be on Cells.

The 7th grade will be finishing our look at various energy forms and how they change states of matter and become useful products of transformation (mechanical, light, heat, chemical).  This week we will look at light and sound waves.  On Friday, we will finish the unit with a unit test.  The next unit will be on Space.

8th grade  This week the students will finish Work and Simple Machines.  This week the student will be demonstrating their knowledge of forces, motion, and machines with the Nifty Lifty machine task on Monday.  The machine design and specification papers are due Tuesday.  The rest of the week is to prepare for the unit test on Friday.  The next unit is on Space Science.

The next task on the project calendar is due Friday, December 4 and that is the rough draft of the science project research paper (table of contents, problem, hypothesis, background information, procedures, data, conclusion, and bibliography page).  If the student is still collecting data or the experiment is in progress, the student can leave out data and conclusion in their rough draft.  We will be going to the library during the week of November 16-20 to work on the main body of the paper.  They should also be writing in their journal as it is a diary of their experiences, data, and information they learned along with their project.

Wish list:  color copy paper (green, blue, or red/pink), blue painter's tape
