Parents and students: Welcome to my page but note my new URL as many of us are moving to a school board site that also hosts your child's grades. Please look for weekly overview web site there as I will phase out Schoolnotes.com site soon. Parents, the passwords are available for On-Course access in the main office upon the presentation of an official ID. With the busy teaching schedule, I will try to update my gradebook once a week but I do keep a paper copy of the grades until I can get into the Internet to record them there as well. http://dcps.oncoursesystems.com/school/webpage.aspx?id=783221 This new page mentioned above will also have the topics that will be covered each week in class. THIS WEEK August 30-September 3, 2010 6th Grade: This week we will be looking at ways scientists discuss scientific phenomenon through our own investigation into a "crime scene." In that discussion we will explore the differences in law and theory. 7th grade This week we will continue our understanding of scientific principles of investigation into another crime scene but in the biological field. This will lead into our lessons on the Food Web. The 8th grade This week we will begin with a pre-test to see what we remember from 6th grade study of severe weather. We will be setting up notebooks so to keep track of our investigations. Composition books are preferable. The first activity will have us investigating the conditions that create thunderstorms and looking at topographical maps. Reminders: Lab safety contracts are due September 10. The science project calendar is in your child's planner and the date for the submission of a science project idea is due soon. |
