Eagles' Reading Reading and Math FCAT is over. I am very proud of how hard each student worked! We are quickly approaching the end of 3rd quarter. The last day of Quarter 3 is March 26th. There is no school, Friday, March 27th, due to a Teacher Duty Day. Please be sure to check Parent Link for your child's grade. They are updated every Wednesday. If you have any questions please e-mail or call. This Saturday, March 21st, our class will move back into the building. It is very exciting! The new room is beautiful and equipped with a SMART Board! I can not wait to do interactive lessons with each class. This week we will begin reading "Elephant Run" which is our One Book One School reading initiative! Students will be given vocabulary words they will encounter in their reading each night. They are to define the words and bring the definitions into class the next day to share. An Illustrated Dictionary will also be completed as we read the book. The 4th Quarter Reading Project will be based on "Elephant Run" as well. Be on the lookout for these directions in the next 2 weeks. New vocabulary words containing the roots "aqua" and "hydro" meaning water; "mar" and mer" meaning sea; and "geo" and "terr" meaning land and earth will be studied for the next week and a half. Please study the definitions of the roots and words. Students will also write a sentence for each word. Every sentence should be at least 7 words in length. It will be due Monday, March 23rd.
