![]() Title IMrs. Langford Mrs. Barlow With only nine weeks of school remaining, students really need to work hard to reach the goal of passing DRA and EOG. Parents, please check your child's Title I folder each day and read with your child. Ask him/her questions. For example, who are the main characters, where does the story take place, what is the problem, what did each character do and then predict what will happen. These questions will help improve comprehension. Tell your child what you liked best about the story. Discuss meanings of words the child does not know. If you want to be very good at anything, it takes practice. This is true for reading!! We hope those of you who attended the "Readers' Theatre Hot Dog Supper" enjoyed the meal and that you received helpful information. Feel free to come visit and talk with us! Q: What is Title I? A: Title I is a federally funded program that assists students in reading and math. (Cleveland Elementary offersTitle I assistance only in reading.) Q: How are children serviced? A: Depending on the child's needs and class schedule, a child may be given small group or individualized instruction. Q: How are Title I students selected? A: In grades K-2, students are recommended to Title I by their teachers. This recommendation could be based on classroom performance, evaluations, and observations. Rising third grade students can be recommended by their teachers; however, once in third grade, students scoring a 1 or 2 on the reading part of the Pre-EOG test will be recommended for services. Fourth and fifth grade students are eligible for Title I services if they scored a 1 or 2 on the Reading EOG test during the previous year. |
