Here's the Scoop On January
Phonics In phonics we will begin another new unit called "Let's Count!" We will be seeing lots of stories with numbers and number words. We will be working on recognizing and writing these words. We will also have additional sight words to add to the list of words we have already mastered. Please study these weekly.
Writing In writing we will begin the month by writing stories with multiple parts. We will use special sequencing words- first, next, and last- to help us in organizing our thoughts.
Math In math we will begin a chapter on graphing. We have already been exposed to some concepts of graphs, but the math series will go into more detail. We will learn key concepts of graphs such as more and less.
This month we will be focusing a lot on arctic animals. We will begin by discussing winter, where the arctic is and the animals that live there. We will then focus a lot on penguins. We will learn about what they look like and even their life cycle.
