MRS. T. PARKER'S

AROUND THE WORLD IN 180 DAYS!!!
Welcome to my webpage. I am very happy to be able to share information with you in this way. Read everything listed below! Be sure to check out the links at the bottom of this page. There is something there for everyone!!!!

LET'S SEE WHAT WE ARE LEARNING!
READING:

Reading is split into 3 parts: Journal Writing, Skill Practice and Reading time.
***Please feel free to stop by and read your child's journal at any time. I ask them different types of questions that they respond to in the best way possible.
Skill: Main Idea-Please ask your child to explain how to find the Main Idea in a passage. We are reading Frindle. The chapter book may be taken home to read with someone for extra help. We are having a wonderful time reading this!!!

WRITING/GRAMMAR:
EXPOSITORY WRITING AND NOUNS
We are moving to TOPIC 5:As of this point your child should be able to: multiply, divide, estimate and practice place value.
We just completed our unit on Endangered Animals and will be coming back to Science once our Social Studies unit is over. In order to help your child better understand Science...just simply take a walk and let them explore their ecosystem! Ask them questions about the things that we learned on our field trip to Duke Power and this should start a great conversation about the living things around them.
Throughout the year, we will study the entire world!!! We are going to begin with North America. We are only focusing on the United States of America for the next 2 1/2 weeks. Therefore, have your child studying the location of the 50 states. Ask them about the location of Alaska!!! They learned something new about this in class!
