Religion
We are starting a new unit on the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. The students will be bringing home a homework sheet asking for details about their baptisms.
Reading
We are almost finished reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle. I am planning to send home the students' completed chapter questions packet on the last day before vacation. We'll be working on some skills for a week or so in January, and then we'll start our other full-length book, Caddie Woodlawn, a historical novel set in pioneer days during the Civil War.
Language
On Thursday we have a language test on subjects and predicates, and the rules for adding "ed" to verbs.
In January, the children will be writing about their goals in life and how school can help them.
Spelling
Almost all of the families have succeeded in establishing a very helpful routine that includes a pretest on Tuesday night, finishing the workbook on Wednesday night, studying on Thursday night, and putting the returned spelling test into the Test Folder on Monday night.
