Science Vocabulary:

 

Budding: During budding, a small part of the parent’s body grows into a tiny and complete version of the parent. In some cases the bud breaks off from the parent organism and continues to grow. In other such organism, such as coral, the newly formed bud remains attached to the parent.

 

Vegetative Propagation: asexual reproduction in plants that produces a new plant from leaves, roots, or stems.

 

Fruiting Body: a fungal reproductive structure that produces spores.

 

Adaptation: a characteristic that helps an organism survive in its environment.

 

Fossil: any remains, traces, or imprints of organism from the past.

 

Camouflage: Any coloring, shape, or pattern that allows an organism to blend in with its environment.

 

Mimicry: An adaptation in which an animal resembles an unpleasant animal.

 

Variations: differences among members of the same species.

 

 

Extinct Species: A species that no longer exists anywhere on the Earth.
