Week of   These Lesson Plans will begin 8/31/09 and continue through 12/11/09. These lesson plans are for all classes. The students will rotate every 10 days to a new station.

Teacher Activities

 Give a brief overview of the students daily routine before allowing students to get started on the computers.

Student Activities

 Daily:

  • Log in to the computer
  • Watch Media Plus Video on computer system
  • complete daily activity in work book-required to show instructor what the assignment instructed them to complete.
  • complete a daily response-5 question mini test
  • complete daily vocabulary

Assessment/Evaluation

 A daily 5 question mini test called a daily response is taken daily and at the end of 10 days a 20 question Post Test is taken. The students complete these tests on the computer and the results are directly sent to the teacher workstation.

Academic Vocabulary (optional by dept.)

 Daily vocabulary is given by the curriculum and the students are also given a grade for completing 6 vocabulary words a day.

Objective

(Student will…)

The student will:

  • Describe how work can satisfy personal needs.
  • Examine reasons for and importance of work.
  • Identify personal goals that may be satisfied through a combination of work, community, social and family roles.
  • Determine which occupation would best fit them what interests them the most.

 

Strategies

 Activity:

  • Students will watch a 50 minute video on unitedstreaming.com website that will give them a brief background in 8 most popular technology related occupations.
  • Students will take notes; including things such as job duties, earnings/salary, and education/training needed, and job out look whether it is good/fair/bad/good/excellent, and why the outlook is what it is.
  • A small survey on the Job Satisfiers and they are to pick whether something is important to them or not so important to them before picking their occupation.
  • Students will compile all the information and decide which on of these 8 occupations would interest them the most they will pick on and complete an 8 slide Power Point Presentation including all of the information gathered from the video.

 

Teacher Activities

 TTW:

  • Provide them with directions based on the video they will be watching.
  • Give directions on what notes will be graded and what notes will be needed for the Power Point.

Student Activities

 Daily:

  • The students will take notes over each occupation given by the video. There will be 8 different occupations.
  • Turn in notes for a participation grade

Assessment/Evaluation

 Evaluation:

The students will be evaluated by completing all the note taking activities as well as I will provide a rubric for the Power Point that will be completed as the main means of evaluation.
