Welcome to the Becky Godwin Library in the Lower School!

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always in need of parent volunteers in the library. It is not too late to sign up to help with shelving, processing or repairing books, creating displays, or working at the circulation desk.

BOOK FAIR:  Book Fair will begin March 22, 2009!

Check Out Procedures and Policies:

Students in PreK - 5th grade come to the library once a week with their class. Students may also come to the library before school, after school, or during lunch.

Students in kindergarten will check out one book per week, and students in first through the second grades may check out two books for one week. Students in grades 3-5 may check out as many books as they can read in one week.

• All overdue books must be returned before additional books may be checked out.

• Students losing books or damaging books beyond repair will be charged the replacement price of the lost book. If the price of the book is not known, a fee of $25.00 will be charged for hardback books, and a fee of $10.00 will be charged for paperback books. There is a fee of $3.00 for lost or damaged magazines.

• Please have a special place to keep library books. Keep them away from possible damage by younger children, pets, or the weather.

• If a book is accidentally damaged, do not attempt to repair it at home. Please tell your child to let us know what happened to the book and we will handle the repairs.

Birthday Bookers Program
The Birthday Bookers Program is an opportunity for you to celebrate your child's birthday in a special way and to help our library collection continue to grow. Participation in the program involves a $20 donation or more per book. For this donation your child may select a new book from the Birthday Bookshelf located in the Lower School Godwin Library. The inside front cover will have his or her name and birth date beautifully inscribed on a bookplate. The birthday child also has the honor of being the first to check out the new book. He or she will also receive a birthday card and the donor will receive a thank you note for the tax-deductible gift. If you are interested in joining at this time, please contact Ann Woleben, Shari Grandy, or Gayle Duplain the Lower School Godwin Library for a form. Your generosity will benefit all of our students. We thank you for your participation and support of our school.

Virginia Readers' Choice Program
The Virginia Readers' Choice books for 2007-2008 are listed below. In order for the students to vote for their favorite book, there are two requirements.
