Dear Students/Parents,

I am Ms. Bartolomeo, 6th grade counselor for 2011-2012 school year. Email is kathy.bartolomeo@pgcps.org.

I, also, approve/disapprove Student Service Learning hours.

Keep in mind if you have any concerns call 301-805-2641, or 301-805-2706 or email me at kathy.bartolomeo@pgcps.org. Thank you, K. Bartolomeo

Conferences with teachers/parents/student are available by calling 301-805-2706 or contact your child's counselor.

All students benefit from using their agenda books daily.

Recommend that children be studying, practicing and/or reading 1 1/2 hours each night.

This is a minimum.

15 in each academic area, followed by 30 minutes of read. If child says they have no homework in 1 or more areas, have them read in that subject matter (newspaper, books) and/or log into www.studyisland.com, and www.aaamath where academic skills can be practiced and improved.

Other sites that teacher use are www.bigideas.com and www.classzone.com.

Sleep - There are times when we see students very tired. They say the went to bed at 11 or 12 at night. Maybe even stayed up to watch TV in their bedroom or played late games late.

It is best to keep TVs out of bedrooms (and games) and Middle Schoolers need 10 to 11 hours of sleep each night. (http://www.sleepfoundation.org/article/sleep-topics/children-and-sleep and http://www.sleepfoundation.org/article/sleep-topics/children-and-sleep).
