Happy New Year!  We hope you had a wonderful Christmas vacation and are eager to return back to school!  Mrs. Freeze and I would like to thank all of you for our very nice Christmas gifts.  We truly appreciate all of them and you and your child!  We hope 2009 is a wonderful year for all of you!

Our next 2 weeks are going to be busy with 2nd Quarter Assessments.  The 2nd Quarter AR cut-off is January 21.  100% of your goal at 80% comprehension must be met by this date in order to participate in the AR School-wide Award.  This is also the cut off for the 150% Club as well.

Monday - Write all spelling words 3 times each on lined writing paper. 

Tuesday - Write a sentence with 6 of your spelling words.  Use lined paper. 

Wednesday - WRITE ALL SPELLING WORDS IN ABC ORDER.

Take a practice test at home (in planner).  If you miss any words on your practice test, write the missed words 3 times each.  

Thursday - Do attached math sheet.  Study for spelling test tomorrow!

Friday - Place homework from Mon., Tues., Wed., and Thurs. in folder and return to school.  Spelling Test today!  Good luck!

Please work neatly and write your name on all papers!
READ with your child nightly and record the book on the reading list in the take home folder!

Our goal this quarter will be 2 points at 80% comprehension.  Since we are learning how to use the program, all first grade students will have the same goal.  Next quarter, each child will have his own individual goal according to his STAR reading test.
