1. Recall and build upon the materials that compose the Earth

2. Discuss different types of rocks

Teacher Activities & Strategies

Lesson: Materials of Earth: Sedimentary Rocks

1. Begin class with individual greetings and acknowledgement.

2. Write vocabulary words on board.

3. Discuss the formation and types of sedimentary rocks.

4. Visually demonstrate concepts using models.

5. Assist students in reading selected material.

6. Ask questions during the readings

7. Assist students in reading and answering section questions.

8. End class with a thank you for good work.

Student Activities

Students will:

1. Write vocabulary and take notes

2. Create vocabulary memory aides, using drawings, pictures from magazines, or demonstrations

3. Participate during discussions.

4. Read the selection and respond to questions during the reading.

5. Read and answer section and unit questions.

6. Assist other students as necessary.

7. Write answers on the board

8. Work well with others

9. Respect personal space.

Assessment/Evaluation

Bell work completion, participation in daily reading, assistance in classroom demonstrations, and completion of section and unit checks.
