Parents: You are one of the absolute greatest assets in your child's educational process if you will help in the following ways ..... 1. Have your child at school each day. It is very stressful on them to try and do make up work while doing current assignments. 2. Please check with them each day to see that homework has been completed. The number one reason students fail my class is the failure to turn in homework. 3. Stay in touch with all of your child's teachers. We welcome contact to inquire about a student's progress. Student Access Code for online Text (link below): BAAF626D51 DATE OF THE NEXT: QUIZ: TBD PROJECT: TBD TEST: December 7 - Unit 7 This is a short week with early dismissal on Tuesday (11/24). My prayer is that everyone have a safe and thankful holiday weekend. What it means to students is that this is their last break until Christmas, so please encourage them to recharge and be ready for a final push. We are in Unit 7 now, dealing with Natural Resources and our use, or misuse, of them. As soon as the Unit 7 Test is completed, we will move into Unit 8, Astronomy. During this unit, students will have another set of drawings to complete, as well as a research paper. I know it feels like we have covered a lot of material to this point, and we have, but there is still much to go. Now is not the time for students to start slacking off. Mr. Greer's last day with us is Tuesday, 11/24, as he has been asked to complete this semester at West Rowan Middle as a long-term substitute. Thus, beginning 11/30 all classes are all mine again. You'll have to ask your student if they feel this is good news, or bad news. For those who have asked, NCCAT was fantastic! I spent 4 days studying the effects of Hurricanes on the NC coastline. Coming right on the heels of the Nor'ida just experienced, I was able to tour areas under water (ankle-deep, to be exact), seeing first hand the damage. I am hoping to have a presentation for students prepared soon and will take 1 day to discuss this with them. I will continue to update this page regularly, but please contact me anytime you have any questions about what's going on in the class or how your child is doing. God bless! |
