Parent meetings can be scheduled any school day between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, with advanced notice. I can also be available most days before or after school, again with notice. You may reach me by calling the school at (704)857-1161 and dialing extension 106 to leave me a message, or sending me an e-mail using the link above.

Parents: You are one of the absolute greatest assets in your child's educational process if you will help in the following ways ..... 1. Have your child at school each day. It is very stressful on them to try and do make up work while doing current assignments. 2. Please check with them each day to see that homework has been completed. The number one reason students fail my class is the failure to turn in homework. 3. Stay in touch with all of your child's teachers. We welcome contact to inquire about a student's progress.

QUIZ: November 18 - Chapters 15/16  

PROJECT: Chapter 15/16 Drawings - assign on 11/12, due on 11/16. 

TEST: November 10 - Unit 4 Open-Book, Take-Home (Chapters 11-14): Students will have until 11/13 to complete. PLEASE NOTE: THE TEST IS DUE ON 11/13, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE STUDENT IS PRESENT AT SCHOOL OR NOT. ONLY THOSE WHO DID NOT RECEIVE IT ON TUESDAY HAVE AN EXCEPTION. HELP YOUR STUDENT REALIZE THAT A ZERO ON A MAJOR TEST CAN BE A GRADE BREAKER !!!!!!

Report Cards have come home and I am here to answer any questions you may have about your student's grade. If they have an FF, it simply means they have 4 or more absences and you need to contact me to get the grade. As restated below ... I will be gone all of next week to an NCCAT seminar. If you wish to contact me, it will have to be done by noon tomorrow (Friday, 11/13) or you will not hear back until 11/22.

With the beginning of a new quarter, we will see a couple of changes. One is the procedure changes I outlined below on my last update. Please help reinforce to your student that assignments are due on time.

• Homework is due when asked for by the teacher. Students should always arrive at class prepared to turn in their homework.
• For the first 9 weeks, assignments turned in late will have a 10-point grade deduction for each day late, up to 4 days late.
• After the first 9 weeks, no assignments will be accepted late. Failure to turn in an assignment when due results in a zero for that assignment.

The procedure above is already biting several students who still think they can turn in assignments whenever they want. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN THE REST OF THIS SEMESTER!!!

I now have 1st and 3rd blocks back and will take 2nd back after Thanksgiving. I will be at NCCAT in Okracoke from 11/16-11/20, so he will have all 3 classes that week, then all 3 will become mine again after Thanksgiving, and his time with us will be complete.
