Ag Education I- Heizer Freshman High School

This class is an introduction into Leadership and the FFA. Students will learn the social and personal skills necessary to become productive members of our society. Parli Pro, Public Speaking, Marketing, and FFA knowledge are the major components of the curriculum.

Scope and Sequence- ASL V- A1-4

The students in this class will be shown the video, "Livestock Judging: Fundamentals" this is a 40 minute video and should take the whole class period.  



2nd period- Advisory, Travel



3rd period- Introduction into Tech Welding

This class is general education shop class. The objective of this class is to introduce the students to career's and skills in the area of arc welding, ace/welding and cutting, Mig and Tig welding, plasma cutting, wood construction, and engine maintenance.

Scope and Sequence- AGT IV- C.1-5

The students in this class will watch the following video ”Field Trip to Lincoln Electric" test Video. This is a 40 minute video; This video should last the whole period. Make sure the students keep their chairs in straight rows.





4th period- Ag Tech Lab

This class is designed around the DEPCO Agriculture Tech Lab program. The students are rotating around the different programs. This semester the students will rotate around to different CDE contest areas.

The students in this class are demonstrating their knowledge specific Career Development Events. Every student in the class will study a specific content area, become the resident expert and teach the class, not only the importance of the subject but how to learn and become competitive. On Monday Rey Coss and Chelsi Van Dyke will teach Poultry Evaluation. On Tuesday, Kagan Massey, Brad Gray and Chelsi Van Dyke will teach the introduction of Livestock Judging, and on Wednesday K.K. Smith and Shelbi Reams will demonstrate their knowledge of Wool Evaluation.

Ag Education I- Heizer Freshman High School

This class is an introduction into Leadership and the FFA. Students will learn the social and personal skills necessary to become productive members of our society. Parli Pro, Public Speaking, Marketing, and FFA knowledge are the major components of the curriculum.

Scope and Sequence- ASL V- A1-4

The students in this class will go to the computer lab, make sure they have a three ring notebook and paper. Once in the computer lab they need to log on to
www.nmffa.org and under activities click CDE. When they are find this link they need to click on Rules and Test banks, then on poultry questions. They need to write the questions and answers to 1-75 on Thursday and 76-150 on Friday. These will be turned in on Monday for a grade.

Kate and REy are to work on Poultry judging, Rey will go through the book with her. All other students are to work on the DEPCO Tech Lab.

The students in this class will pick up their safety folders that are located on the bench to the left of my class room door. Allow each student to retrieve their folders and study for the semester tests. There will be 5 questions taken from each safety test, on the semester final. Make sure they stay out of the tech classroom and stay in their seats.

The students in this class are going to study for their semester test. The test reviews are on the round table in my classroom. The students are allowed to use the computers to study for the Depco tests on plant science and aquaculture.

Ag. Tech Welding (Introduction into Welding)

Class periods- 3,5,6 and 7.

Class objectives: The students in these classes are in the process of completing their 14 safety tests. The objective is for every student to pass all 14 tests with at least an 80% competency. It is very important that every student has the opportunity to work in a clean and safe environment.

Teacher Activity: On Tuesday (5-17-10)the teacher will put the CEV video “ Safely & Operation of tools, There are four different content areas on this DVD, the students will need to watch each segment. Some of the DVD's have quizzes that will be taken after watching the video.

 Teacher Activity: On Wednesday ( 5-18-10) teacher will put the CEV video “ Careers: Architecture and Construction”. After the students finish the video, have them take the video test that is located on the round table. Collect the tests and put them in the test box.

Teacher Activity: On Thursday (5-19-10) the teacher will put the CEV video “ Interviews: Making the Cut”. After the students finish the video, have them take the video test that is located in the file cabinet. Collect the tests and put them in the test box.

Teacher Activity: On Friday (5-20-10) the teacher will put the CEV video “Landscape Irrigation Maintenance and Troubleshooting”. After the students finish the video, have them take the video test. Collect the tests and put them in the test box.

The students should take Cornell Notes while watching the videos, It wording appears on the bottom of the TV screen, the student should write it down in their notes. For those students who are having trouble passing the tests, I have offered and will continue to offer, after school one on one tutoring. I even offer night time tutoring for both the student and his/her parents. I feel that if the parent understood the process that is necessary to pass the tests, the learning curve would increase.

Agriculture Education Tech Lab (Hobbs High School)

Class objectives: The objective of this class is to introduce the 2st year FFA students to the wonderful world of FFA. The class will focus on the advanced steps of leadership development. Agriculture Marketing Plans, Sales and Service and other business outlines will be taught. A

Activity: On Tuesday (5-17-10) the teacher will begin the class by taking roll in the shop. The four students who are in this class (Tech Lab) will watch the DVD," Just Between Us: Communication 101" and if time allows " Are You Listening". the DVD is located on the Public Speaking, Presentations & Communications box. The Advanced welding boys will hand sand and paint the trailer, “They are not allowed to use power equipment.

 Teacher Activity: On Wednesday (5-18-10) the teacher will begin the class by taking roll, after roll has been taken the teacher will show the DVD, “Your Cultural Passport to International Business". this DVD will be shown in the shop, it is found in the Business Economics and Marketing Principals box.. Advanced welding students will sand and paint the trailer.

Activity: On Thursday (5-19-10 ) The teacher will show the video "Business Ethics in the Workplace" and if time permits " Planning an Effective Meeting" these video's can be found in the Business communication & Management Practices box. Advanced welding students will continue hand sanding and painting.

Teacher Activity: On Friday(5-20-20) the teacher will put the CEV Video ” America the Bountiful II and if time permits America the Bountiful III"  These Video's should take the whole class period, if they have time they should take the video tests.

 

Student Activity: On Tuesday (3-31-09) the students will watch the video's that are assigned, following the video the students should take a quiz that will indicate if the students learned the material or not. Our goals is to have the students score an average of 80%.

 Student Activity: On Wednesday(4-1-09)    The students should be motivated to seek challenging career opportunities. Education is the key to a successful position in management. 

Student Activity: On Thursday (4-02-09) the students should watch the video's and learn about the world of career opportunities that are available to them in Agriuculture.

Student Activity: On Friday (4-03-09)  the students be shown DVD that addresses career opportunities at are available to them throughout the wonderful world of Agriculture. Make sure the students take notes for the video reviews.
