HOMEWORK:Parents and students, if you do not see updated homework posted below, please email me at crawletf@rss.k12.nc.us. I will check my email often and get back to you quickly. Good day to you! Welcome to Mrs. Crawley's English I class. I am a National Board Certified teacher with 30 years of experience in the English classroom. I know I can help you hone your English skills! My personal goal is to make English I the highlight of your school day. Please be up front with any needs or concerns you have. We'll be together daily for quite some time; the experience needs to be positive for both of us. Always study; always give your very best; always think enough of yourself to push yourself to come to school and complete the work. Accomplishment is a satisfying emotion. I want to help you feel it! See me during lunch and after school any day that you choose to receive extra help or just to talk about your progress. At the semester's end, we'll celebrate your progress with a passing EOC grade, a promotion to English 2, and a huge high five. Homework: All of my students have been successful on their foundational work. We have set expectations for writing and literary assignments. We have covered the foundational grammar and literary terms knowledge needed to move forward. This week, Feb. 6, we will read the novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird". Monday, we research the historical basis for the novel, and Tuesday we begin reading. Your student should be reading and answering questions nightly. We will spend some class time working with the novel, but most of the reading will be done outside of class. We will also spend class time with a new grammar/sentence construction skill. Call or email if you have questions! (Attendance is already a problem for a few of you. Come after school and make up your work.) |
