Mrs. Parris 3rd Grade Class

Daily Language Arts

To help all students become successful readers and writers, students will receive daily reading instruction using a balanced literacy approach.  Using this technique, students spend time daily reading individually during Independent Reading,  studying words and vocabulary through the Word Block, learning reading concepts during  Direct Instruction, and developing writing skills during writing.

Math

We spend 90 minutes daily on math concepts.  The first 20 minutes are spent reviewing problem solving skill and updating our calendar.  The next segment of math  will be spent in direct instruction and follow up with independent instruction.  Most everyday the students will be assigned math homework.  The key to success with math is practice!
