Dear Families...

It was so nice to see all of you at our Conferences.  It is a pleasure to hear the students discuss their accomplishments and goals.

The first Reading goals for the trimester is due FRIDAY, Nov. 21st.  Many of the students have chosen to respond to the book in a variety of ways.  I am very excited to see the final product.

As for writing goals, those will be due when we get back from break.

This week the students are turning in their DE Ecosystem projects and we will be having an assessment on Ecosystems.  We have discussed how humans impact the environment and we will begin to look at how the environment impacts human culture and life.  We will be looking at Culture and the components of culture, as well as Native American tribes.

We will be continuing to work on Data Analysis.  We have been focusing on Mean, Mode, Range, and Median.  We have also pulled out the steps of Data Anaylsis: Question, Collect, Organize, Represent, and Analyze.  We are beginning to look at data and how it can help us make predictions about probable outcomes.  Here are the standards that we will be covering:

Represents data using tables and graphs such as line plots, bar graphs, and line graphs

Describes the shape and important features of a set of data

Use measures of center (Mean, Median, Mode, Range)

Compares different representations of the same data and evaluate each representation
