Welcome

********Mix it Up*****************
Well done, Corriher-Lipe students and the Mix It Up Council! Our Mix It Up at Lunch Day went very well, and most students conducted themselves with respect as they sat at different tables with flags from different countries.  The cafeteria was decorated with masks from other cultures, and music from various ethnic backgrounds was played to help set the "Together We Stand... Divided We Fall" theme. Thank you teachers and other faculty members for helping to make this day a success!

Thank you, Mayor Susan Kluttz, and the Mix It Up Council! The Corriher-Lipe Human Relations Council and the Mix It Up Council met
on Monday, November 17th in the CLMS Media Center.  Salisbury Mayor Susan Kluttz gave a motivating speech for members on
"Uniting the Community for a Positive Future".
All of the members who attended were impressed by Mayor Kluttz's compassion and enthusiasm for working toward a community which accepts diversity and that is more tolerant of one another.  Refreshments were provided by the Corriher-Lipe Human Relations Council.
Thanks to all who attended and helped to make this meeting a success!

"Don't Laugh at Me" Lyrics

I'm a little boy with glasses, the one they call a "geek"

A little girl who never smiles cuz I got braces on my teeth

And I know how it feels to cry myself to sleep

I'm that kid on every playground whos always chosen last

A single teenage mother tryin' to overcome my past

You don't have to be my friend but is it too much to ask

Don't laugh at me; don't call me names

Don't get your pleasure from my pain

In God's eyes we're all the same

Some day we'll all have perfect wings

Don't laugh at me

I'm the beggar on the corner

Youve passed me on the street

I wouldn't be out here begging if I had enough to eat

And don't think I don't notice that our eyes never meet

Don't laugh at me; don't call me names

Don't get your pleasure from my pain

In God's eyes we're all the same

Some day we'll all have perfect wings

Don't laugh at me

I'm Fat. I'm Thin. Im Short. I'm Tall. I'm Deaf. I'm Blind.

Hey aren't we all?

Don't laugh at me; dont call me names

Don't get your pleasure from my pain

In God's eyes we're all the same

Some day we'll all have perfect wings

Don't laugh at me

Don't laugh at me

"Don't allow anybody to pull you so low as to make you hate them. Don't allow anybody to cause you to lose your self-respect to the point that you do not struggle for justice---how ever young you are. You have a responsibility to seek to make your nation a better nation in which to live. You have a responsibility to seek to make life better for everybody. And so you must be involved in the struggle for freedom and justice."

The Rosa Parks Story
When Rosa Parks refused on the afternoon of Dec. 1, 1955, to give up her bus seat so that a white man could sit, it is unlikely that she fully realized the forces she had set into motion and the controversy that would soon swirl around her.
