give extra practice.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This year is going to be a very exciting year for your child.  I have a variety of activities planned throughout the year, which will boost their knowledge in math as well as relate to their everyday lives.  For your child to be successful in my class, I have some expectations with which your child is to comply.

1)    Bring all materials to class

2)    Wait patiently for their turn to speak (raise hand)

3)    Stay on task and don’t disrupt others

4)  Complete all assigned homework and class work on time

If your child cannot follow these expectations my consequences, include.

1)    Warning

2)    Parent Conference

3)    After School Detention

4)    Office Referral

For your child to be successful they not only need to be well behaved, but they need to be concerned about their academics as well.  This is a very challenging class which requires a lot of hard work and dedication. We will be moving at a rather rapid pace in order to cover all the material your child will need to be successful in Algebra 1. Therefore, I am enclosing my grading process and the grading scale.

Grading Process

Homework:

-Each homework assignment is worth 5 points. In order to get credit all work must be shown

-Each child will start with a 100 for homework each nine weeks. If a homework is missed then 5 points will be deducted from that 100. If half of a   homework is missed then 2 points will be deducted. The number of points left at the end of the nine weeks will be their homework grade.

- Homework is given Monday-Thursday. They will have some type of  homework every night (very few nights will have nothing)

Quiz:

Quizzes count as one test grade and can be given any day of the week.

-The material being covered will determine the amount of quizzes given during that chapter.

Notebook Test

Your child will be given 5 boardwork questions at the beginning of class each  day, which we  will go over as a  class.  After completing 10 days of  board work your child will be tested on questions from those ten days.

Since the material will be covering a variety of topics I will select 25 questions for your child  to review but only ten of those

questions will be on the test.

If your child is absent it is their responsibility to ask either me or a classmate for the questions and answers covered.

Chapter Test: -

Chapter test grades count as 2 grades in my grade book.

                             - Most chapter test will be given on Fridays.

Projects:

Projects are assigned both in and out of class.

The amount of time needed to complete the project will determine whether it willl count for one or two test  grades.

*** All assignments are due on their assigned dates. Failure to do so will result in a reduction of points.

*** Any assignment completed in pen will receive a zero for the grade.

*** Any assignment turned in with no name will receive a zero for the grade.

Grading Scale:
