WHAT WE ARE DOING IN CLASS:

THURSDAY, August 6thToday in class, we went over rules and procedures.  I gave each student a letter to take home to the parents and a syllabus.  We discussed section 1-1 by working a few problems on Practice 1-1 on indeductive reasoning.  The students completed 2 vocabulary words and began working on an assignment on pages 7-10.  The assignment will be completed in class on Friday.

FRIDAY, August 7th:  Students completed assignment #3 from pages 7-10 in class today.  Questions were answered by the teacher.  Students completed vocabulary words 4, 6, 8-13.  Students received a folder with vocabulary pages.  Students used these to discuss  and complete vocabulary activities for point, line, and plane - the 3 basic terms in Euclidian geometry.  The teacher demonstrated the other vocabulary terms and postulates.

MONDAY, August 10th: We reviewed probability and the students completed assignment #5.  Students worked practice 1-2 and I demonstrated some with models.  Students then worked on assignment #4 and will finish for homework.

TUESDAY, August 11th:  Students will complete vocabulary 13-19 as I introduce and explain the new words.  Students will complete practice 1-3 to apply the new terms and work on assignment #7.  Students will then check homework questions from assignment #4 and ask questions.

WEDNESDAY, August 12th:  Students completed vocabulary words, checked homework and ask questions.  Students then completed Practice 1-4 and worked on assignment #8 which will be due Thursday.

THURSDAY August 13th:  Students will check work and complete problems 32-35 from assignment #8 as a class.  We will then reivew for the quiz on 1.1-1.4 tomorrow.  Students will be assigned an angle art project which will be due next Tuesday.

FRIDAY August 14th:  Students studied for the quiz for 10 minutes, then took the quiz.  After the quiz, students completed vocabulary words 30-33, then worked on their Angle Art Project.

MONDAY August 17th:  The class went over the vocabulary words for section 1-5 and then completed Practice 1-5.  Students then worked on assignment #10 and then worked on their Angle Art Project if time permitted.

TUESDAY August 18th:  Please notice I changed the due date of the angle art project and the Chapter 1 test until Friday.  I wanted to give them more time in class to work on the project.  The notebooks are almost always checked on chapter test day.  Today in class, I answered questions from the assignment #10 and the student completed vocabulary related to properties, which I illustrated.  We also learned 4 new vocabulary words using various techniques to reinforce.  The students should complete assignment #11 but will only complete 1-12 and finish in class tomorrow after we go over Practice 1-7.

WEDNESDAY August 19th:  Students ask questions on homework and then finished working on assignment # 11, asking questions as they work.  If any time remains, they worked on angle art or organizing their notebook.

THURSDAY August 20th:  Students ask questions on homework.  Students took notes on distance and midpoint formulas.  They worked problems using this formula on Practice 1-8.  Students then completed assignment # 13.  Students then worked on angle art, organizing their notebook, or asking questions for the chapter 1 test tomorrow.

FRIDAY August 21st:  Students will take Chapter 1 test.  After the test, students will begin working on page 23 to reinforce solving equations from Algebra I.  Students will also turn in their angle art project and notebooks (assignment #1-13).
