 January 25th Just a short reminder that the January book report is due Friday. We also will be having a science test on chapter 4 on Friday. Remember that Sunday begins Catholic School Week with a school mass at 9a.m. We encourage all the children to attend this mass in uniform with their parents. Look on the school website to view all the activities planned for the children during that week.

February 23rd All oral presentations have been given on the Animal Habitat science project.The children did a wonderful job explaining facts about their animals, where they live in what habitat, what they eat and an interesting fact they learned. The dioramas will be on display during the school science fair. Please stop in  to  see them.

The February/ March book report assignment went home yesterday. Be sure to see it and help your child chose an appropriate book. There is also another assignment that went home yesterday involving a HOW TO  STEPS IN A PROCESS. This is an oral presentation. Please read the  assignment  it  is due early in March.

March 1st Next week is Terra Nova Testing. Please have your child well rested. Make sure they eat a healthy breakfast. Have your child bring in two #2 pencils, a book to read when heo or she has finished  a section of the test ahead of time and a snack.

 On a different topic your child received a class newspaper. If you haven't seen it ask about it. Most of the children wrote an article for it.

March 8th Third grade will finish Terra Nova testing tomorrow.  Saturday is Jesus Day for those children receiving First Holy Communion this spring at OLP. Tomorrow there will be Stations of the Cross in church for the school at 2:15. Parents welcomed!

March 9th Tricky Tray is almost here. If you haven't sent in your reservations yet,don't get left out. The time to do it is now! So send in your reservations today!

March 23rd  Next week it's back to winter uniforms. Cooler  weather is coming. For those who are supporting the Tricky Tray have a great night and GOOD LUCK!

March 29th Tomorrow there will be a spelling test on this week's words that have suffixes. The words can be found in theor Readers and Writers Notebook page 289. There will be Stations of the Cross in church tomorrow at the usual time.

April 4th- Have a Happy and Holy Easter! If you didn't return your Starfish box you may still bring it in after our vacation. No specific homework but practice those times tables especially 6 through 12. Don't forget your Pioneer bear if anyone goes somewhere special and those state reports are due soon after we return to school.

April 24th Tonight is the Spring Concert. We will meet in our classroom at 7:10 in our Sunday best. Next Tuesday evening May 1st is the May crowning. Everyone must attend. It is at 7:30. All third graders will wear their First Holy Communion clothes. The girls will wear their white dresses and their veils. The boys will wear their suits or dress pants and jackets.

May 10th We are finishing another chapter in Social Studies on how communication and transportation changed our lives (chapter 10). A test on the concepts found in this chapter will be given either Wednesday or Thursday of next week. In math we are working on measurement in customary and metric units. Again we will be finishing this chapter sometime next week. A test of these concepts will probably follow at the beginning of the week of the 21st of May. Next week is the Country Fair please read the flyer that is going home today about drop-off and pick-up.Next week on May 16th The Nightingale book report is due. We have read the book together and they have been assigned questions to answer. Each child received the questions, paper to answer the questions on, and a paper to illustrate the two nightingales. I am looking forward to reviewing their work.

May 24th Just a reminder the June "sports Book" report is due

June 1st. We will b e having a religion test on Tuesday, May 29th chapter 18. We are finishing up a chapter in Social Studies on Chapter 11 Work and Money. After review we will be having a test probably at the end of next week. Then again next week at the  First Friday mass the some of third graders will be doing the readings and bringing up the gifts.It would be nice if the parents that could be there would be there. The children are so happy to see their parents at their activities.
