Rains’ Ramblings

March/April is here already and we are closer to FCAT testing. The class has been working very hard and I am very pleased. Please get them here on time and well rested. Have your child bring in a bottle of water every day. Students need to be here on time as they will not be allowed to enter the room after testing has started and will have to wait in the office. We won’t know the test results until May when they will be sent home to you.

Our dates of testing are:

April 11^th,12^th, 13^th, and 14^h, Mon.-Thurs. I will send home an envelope with paper to write a note to your child for each testing day later this month. Please return as soon as you can. The children love this every year.

Reading: We will be reviewing for FCAT and strategies to help them during testing and working in MacMillian . Children will be working in book clubs of 4 students to discuss their reading.

Math: Our next topics in math will be Topic 15(Perimeter) and Topic 10(Patterns). Please continue to work on their math facts.

Writing: The students will be working on an expository writing about third grade. Staying focused on the main idea in each paragraph is our goal. We also are working on limericks and finishing our ABC books.

Science: We are currently finishing up our Energy unit.

Social Studies: We are getting ready to start our Pinellas County Unit soon. Time for Kids continues to keep us informed of current events.
