MR. MAZZA - ENGLISH 1 - NOV. 2 - DEC. 4 - STUDENTS WORKED EXCEPTIONALLY WELL THIS BEGINNING QUARTER. THEY READ FOR MAIN IDEAS- RECOGNIZED THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THEME, PLOT, CHARACTERIZATION, EDITED FOR GRAMMAR, AND MADE INFERENCES AND DREW CONCLUSIONS. NCSCOS OBJECTIVES: 2.01 - 5.01 - 2.04- 6.02 WERE INCLUDED IN ALL LESSONS, AS WELL AS THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION: HOW DOES A LITERARY CHARACTER OVERCOME OBSTACLES OR CONFLICTS? ALL STUDENTS HAVE IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY, AND IT IS GOOD TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE THEM. ALL WORK WILL BE MONITORED. COMPLETED, AND TESTED IN THE CLASSROOM. STUDENTS NEED TO CONTINUE FOCUSING AND SETTING A GOAL TO PASS THE EOC READING TEST. MR. MAZZA - ENG. 4 - NOV. 2 - DEC. 4 - STUDENTS WILL ANALYZE THE RENAISSANCE THAT BEGAN AT THE END OF THE MIDDLE AGES WHEN PEOPLE SOUGHT TO EXPLAIN NEW IDEAS THROUGH EXPLORATION , COLONIZATION, AND THE RETURN TO THE CLASSICS. BEN JOHNSON AND JOHN DONNE WILL BE FEATURED AS POETS WHO USE METAPHORICAL ORGANIZATIONAL DECVICES IN THEIR LITERARY WORKS. DAILY, STUDENTS WILL STUDY VOCABULARLY ALIGNED WITH SAT, EDIT DAILY OVERHEAD GRAMMAR, AND INCORPORATE NCSCOS OBJECTIVES: 2.01 COMPREHEND MAIN IDEAS,2.04 MAKE INFEENCES AND DRAW CONCLUSION, 4.03 RELECT ON SOCIAL, CULTURAL, HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES. ALL WORK WILL BE MONITORED, COMPLETED, AND TESTED IN THE CLASSROOM. ALL STUDENTS ARE PASSING THIS NINE-WEEKS AND WORkING DILIGENTLY. HOW SWEET IT IS! |
