STUDENTS WILL BEGIN THE COURSE WITH THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL, AND HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF EARLY AMERICA BEFORE 1800, AND PROCEED SEVERAL WEEKS LATER TO UNDERSTANDING THE REQUIRED GRADUATION EXIT PROJECT RESEARCH PAPER BY UTILIZING THE LIBRARY AND INTERNET.  NCSCOS OBJECTIVES: 2.01 COMPREHENDING MAIN IDEAS, 2.04 MAKING INFERENCES AND DRAWING CONCLUSIONS, 3.01 IDENTIFYING PRINT AND INTERNET SOURCES, AS WELL AS 4.03 REFLECTING ON SOCIAL, CULTURAL, AND HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES, WILL FREQUENTLY BE USED TO ANALYZE AND EVALUATE ALL MATERIAL.  THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION FOR THIS UNIT: WHAT POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS DID EUROPEAN SETTLEMENTS HAVE ON NATIVE AMERICANS?  ALL WORK WILL BE MONITORE, TESTED, AND COMPLETED IN THE CLASSROOM.

 MR. MAZZA - ENGLISH 4 - JAN.25 - FEB. 26 -  WELCOME TO ENGLISH 4!  IT WILL NOT BE LONG BEFORE THESE FINE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WILL GRADUATE AND MAKE THEIR WAY IN THE WORLD, AND, TO GET THEM READY, WE WILL BEGIN THE SEMESTER WITH A COLLECTION OF STORIES FROM THE ANGLO-SAXON AND WORLD LITERATURE CLASSICS OF ARCHETYPAL HEROES AND EPIC WORKS ,SUCH AS, BEOWULF, GILGAMESH, AND KING ARTHUR.  DAILY STUDENTS WILL WORK ON VOCABULARLY ALIGNED WITH THE SAT TEST.  WE WILL EMPLOY THE NCSCOS OBJECTIVES: 2.04 MAKE INFERENCES AND DRAW CONCLUSIONS, AND 4.03 IDENTIFY SOCIAL, CULTURAL, HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES, AS WELL AS 6.02 EDIT FOR GRAMMAR AND DEFINITIONS.  THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION FOR THE UNIT:  ARE THERE EPIC HEROES IN OUR WORLD TODAY?  AS USUAL. ALL WORK WIL BE COMPLETED, TESTED, AND MONITORED IN THE CLASSROOM.
