CAR. ED. - TECHNOLOGY

Technology is: The use of knowledge, tools, and resources to make peoples lives easier more enjoyable, and more productive.

The Technology Education programs are single semester (half year) courses. Tech. Ed. classes are offered in three levels:

Level 1 - 23050000 - M/J CAR ED, Introduction to Technology

Level 2 - 23050001 - M/J CAR ED, Intermediate Technology

Level 3 - 23050002 - M/J CAR ED, Production Technology

We will be studying many aspects of technology this semester including;

Level 1 - Simple Machines, Bridge Design and Transportation. Some of the Projects or Problem Solvers we will work on include building Straw Towers and Balloon Powered Cars. We will be working quite a lot with LEGO Simple & Powered Mechanisms kits.

Level 2 - Aerodynamics and Flight, Bridge Design and Transportation. Some of the Projects or Problem Solvers we will work on include building Straw Bridges, File Folder Cars, Hot Air Balloons, Balsa Gliders and Mouse Trap Powered Cars.

Level 3 - Rocketry, Measurements, Bridge Design, Power Tools and Transportation. Some of the Projects or Problem Solvers we will work on include building Craft Stick Bridges, File Folder Cars, Soda Bottle and Paper Tube Rockets and the highlight of the semester, CO2 Powered Dragsters.

 

There will be a mandatory $5.00 lab and material fee. This fee is necessary to offset the cost of project supplies.

TSA members learn problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking and leadership skills as they relate to design, communications, power, energy, transportation, engineering, manufacturing, construction and biotechnology. TSA strives to meet the educational needs and challenges of all students in an increasingly and ever-changing technological world.

The mission of the Technology Student Association is to prepare our membership for the challenges of a dynamic world by promoting technological literacy, leadership, and problem solving, resulting in personal growth and opportunity.
