Once again we are in great need of parent donations of tissues.  If you can, please send in a box or several boxes of tissues with your student.  Thank you so very much for the previous donations of tissues, paper towels, and hand sanitizer.

The entire 8th grade will be going on our big field trip to Washington DC on Friday, February 26

Each team is asking team parents to donate pre-packaged snacks and drinks for us to take with us on this trip.

Students will also need to bring with them a bag lunch and money for dinner.  We will be stopping at various Fast Food restaurants in Fredericksburg for dinner.

February 3— February 12 HOMEWORK

Feb. 3:  Study for TEST on Civil War unit scheduled for Friday, February 05, 2010.

Feb. 5: Due Tuesday, Feb. 9:  Read Chapter 9.4 & 9.5 (Reconstruction) and complete the Guided Reading Assignment (handout).

During the week of Feb. 8 – 12, students will receive a set of Class Notes on Reconstruction that we will use as the foundation for class discussions.  Students should review and study these notes each night for a possible quiz the following day.

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, employees from Paragon Bank will begin a 6-weeks Junior Achievement program with our social studies students.  The presenters will work with our students every Wednesday (except the March 10 early release day) through March 24. The focus topic of this weekly presentation will be America Works and will feature discussions/activities on 19th century immigration, the significance of agriculture and  the role of natural resources in the country’s economic development, entrepreneurship, the development of modes of 19th century transportation and communication, and the growth and influence of industrialization.

I encourage you to ask your student about the program’s presentation each week.
