  • History Fair- ALL students must participate in History Fair. Info coming soon
  • Syllabus- you will get your information the first day of class (forms must be signed and returned)

Week 1 - August 23-27

M/TU  WELCOME/ Student Information

W/ Bully Prevention training (p 1-5)

       Review code of conduct (p 7)

Th/F:  Pretest/Begin Native Amerians/ Review UEQ and LEQ's and begin group assignment on Native culture regions

 

WEEK 2- August 30- Sept 4

M/Tu:  Continue Native Americans (group activity)  If you are absent check out a History Alive text and read pp 1-15.  a map that shows the regions and a chart that shows what types of homes, foods, environments, clothing, resources, climate each group would have had. 

W/TH:  Review Native Americans; Begin  "world before the opening of the Atlantic"  Video/organizer/DBQ- The Age of Discovery

F:  Continue with Middle Ages/DBQ

Week 3  Sept 7-10

T/W:  Continue with Middle Ages/DBQ

Th/Fr:  DBQ Essay.  Students will write essay based on graphic organizer done in class.  Students who are absent will write an individual essay

Week 4  Sept 13-17

M:  DBQ essay/present/ rate with rubric

Tu/W:  Map of the World: Native Americans to Columbus

Th/FR:  HAPPY CONSTITUTION DAY

Preamble in pictures/The Almost Painless Guide to the Constitution. Begin prep work for Jamestown DBQ

FRIDAY:  Test 1/ Silver classes

Week 5:  Sept 20- 24

M:  Teacher work day/No school

CELEBRATE FREEDOM WEEK

Tu/W:  TEST 1   What is a Hero?  Singers Activity

Th/F :  Declaration of Indpendence/  Movie day (last block for 8th graders who have tickets)

TEST 1 MAKE-UP TIMES:  THURSDAY AT 3;45 OR FRIDAY AT 8:15 ONLY

Week 6:  Sept 27-Oct 1

M/TU:  Jamestown DBQ- Examine documents and answer scaffolding questions

W/TH:  Continue with documents and bucketing activity. Homework Write the "grabber"

F:  Video: Jamestown.  Begin group essay-  Early Jamestown: Why did so many colonists die?  Homework  Write the "grabber"

Week 7:  Oct 4-8

M:  Finish sub-bucketing. Jamestown Video.  Begin group essay 

Tu/W:  EARLY RELEASE DAY (WED)***  Continue essay.  Begin presentations

Th/Fr:  Finish presentations.  Introduction to the English colonies
