Miss Traci Honeycutt
Second Grade - China Grove Elementary
2008 - 2009
Happy November! This month will fly by because we have several days with no school and Thanksgiving break. The first two weeks of November we will be learning all about elections and voting. We will use the ActiVote on the computer to help us tally up different voting choices. The second grade will also elect a fictional president! Continue to read with your child each night and remind them to follow all rules at school. Thanks again for sharing your children with us and come visit anytime!
Love,
Miss Honeycutt & Mrs. Higgins
What We're Doing At School:
*Reading - This week we will be reading Chinatown. We will learn about the chinese culture and tai chee. Have you ever been to Chinatown in New York City?

*Math - We are learning about different kinds of graphs and how to conduct a survey to collect data. Pictographs, tally charts, bar graphs, and coordinate grids will all be discussed.
Social Studies - Second grade is working on a Impact Project on ELECTIONS & VOTING. Be looking to see which fictional character the second grade elects to be the president coming up in November.
Science - BATS! BATS! BATS! We will learn all kinds of cool stuff about bats.
AR! AR! AR!
We are ROCKIN' & READIN' this year for AR. Students received their new reading range for second quarter and goal last week. Keep up the great reading guys! Each child will have a points goal to meet each quarter and will need their AR Log sheet signed nightly. Please remember that the more a child reads, the more they will know!
