Welcome to 6th grade at CHMS!  I am exciting about Social Studies this year.  We are going to be traveling through time to visit several interesting ancient civilizations.  

Picture Make-ups/retakes are tomorrow

Pizza Hut Fundraiser Night is on Wednesday (Need flyer handed out by homeroom teacher so proceeds go to CHMS)

Students will begin on their project-based assessments for China

Nov. 2 - Zip Strips for Indus River Valley due tomorow;  VOCABULARY QUIZ on Thursday for Indus River Valley (worth 1 summative);  Students are working on an in-class project-based learning assignment that will take the place of the content portion of the "traditional" quiz/post-assessment.  Their final product will be a brochure of the Indus River Valley that will be due on Thursday (worth 1 summative and 1 formative).

Oct. 8 - Listen to the weather forecast for tomorrow, wear appropriate clothing, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring a disposable bagged lunch or money to buy lunch.  It is optional if you want to bring some spending money.  Be at school regular time, by 7:40, and report to your homeroom as usual.  REMEMBER YOU WILL NEED A RIDE HOME BECAUSE WE WILL BE GETTING TO SCHOOL BETWEEN 4:30 - 5:00.

Sept. 30 - Zip Strips for Unit 2 Mesopotamia due Friday;  Students are to only be doing the terms and definitions that they missed on their pre-assessment (gold paper).  Students in Block 4 & 1 were given time between 10 - 20 minutes in class to work on them.  

Today, People of the Fertile Crescent Timeline was handed back.  Students were reminded that if they did not achieve a 70% or better on the assignment that they could make corrections and resubmit it by next Wednesday.    


Sept. 29 - No Homework;  Students received interim reports today.  We also began a discussion about goal setting, behavior (individual and community) and academic performance that we will continue tomorrow in class.  I encourage parents/guardians to have those conversations with their students at home.
