Happy New Year!  I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break.

Reading:  We are currently in our Money Unit and continuing to work on comprehension skills through whole group and small group instruction.  I plan to begin reading chapter books and discussing them in literature circle groups at the end of the month.

Writing:  We are writing expository pieces on a choice topic.  We are using all of the techniques previously learned and also orgainizing our papers into paragraphs.  These will be published by the end of the month.

Math:  We are finishing up our unit on addition and subtraction.  It ends with estimating and problem solving.  Our next unit dives deeper into multiplication and division.  To help at home, please continue reviewing multi-digit addition and subtraction and basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts.
