Welcome to our Second Grade webpage! Forthe past few weeks our Science lessons have revolved around the area of Physics(the science of force and motion). Using the inquiry process, the childrenobserved several computer videos of a stationary cannon launching balls at a target. Given several obstacles the students found it necessary to alter the weight of the cannon ball and the angle projectile.
After discussing the force of gravity, we next observed the movement of a matchbox car under normal circumstances. Constructing and adding a ramp to this picture increased the speed of our matchbox. Our second grade scientists formed some theories about movement and were able to discover some elements that affect our motion. As true scientists we added some additional elements such as sand paper and cloth to the ramp to test some of our theories. Monthly Book-it Directions:
