Math

The math groups are showing great progress this first half of the quarter.  Please be sure to visit the math website (link is at the bottom) to check messages sent by me and to see if there are any assignments your child will need to do.  This is a great tool to use at home because it contains the students book as well as visual lessons students can view.

We have wrapped up our unit on multiplication, but please still continue to work with your child on their facts and strategies of solving multi-digit multiplication problems.  The students are now discovering the world of division.  We have just begun, but the students are finding it quite interesting and fun.

Science/ S.S.

For science, we finished our unit on animal habitats and adaptations.  We have now moved into Social Studies.  Students have started reading with groups about the different ways of life Native Americans had while living in North Carolina.  In weeks to come, students will begin a partner project and research a specific tribe located in North Carolina.  With the help of our media coordinator and tech facilitator, students will create a slide show to present their information to the class.
