Welcome to
China Grove Elementary's
Compass  Odyssey Website

Compass Learning knows that we can not afford to leave anyone behind. Not a single student. Not a single teacher, principal, or superintendent. Not one district administrator or parent.
So they've developed a curriculum that engages children in new ways, that provides opportunities for individualized learning, and that embeds assessment along the way so teachers and administrators always know how each child is performing.

At China Grove, we are fortunate to have Compass Odyssey, an exciting tutorial program in Language Arts,
Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. A fast-paced, motivational and exciting approach to learning, Odyssey is a internet based program that entices a student's learning capabilities.

The Reading Courses are story-based, with instruction in phonics, vocabulary and comprehension. The Math courses have instruction in computation, measurement, geometry, and problem solving. Students are tested and are placed into activities according to their own skills. Students of various levels can work side by side because they work at their own pace.
Odyssey also
provides a program for non-English speaking students where the program gives directions in their native tongue. They are able to work on learning basic survival words in English as well as learn the alphabet and the basics for learning to read in English.
Odyssey provides opportunity for testing according to North Carolina Standard objectives and is updated as our standards change. We can access activities on levels from Pre-K up to sixth grade in order to reach students of every age and learning capability. The activities challenge the students and always give praises for a job well done.
Compass Learning has been helping teach students K-12 for many years and their company can be accessed at the link found below.

At the top of this page you will find Flash Cards for terms used on the N.C End of Grade test. The terms are followed by a short definition. Students taking the EOG Test should familiarize themselves with each of these terms so that they can better understand the test.

Reading helps you soar to new heights!!
