General PE Information:

Students are expected to change into appropriate physical education attire each day.  Appropriate attire includes t-shirts, shorts, sweats, sneakers, etc.  The important thing is that the PE outfit is DIFFERENT than what the student wore to school.

Students are graded daily on a 12 point scale: 2 points are for preparation, which includes being on time for class, and changing clothing and 10 points are for sportsmanship, attitude/behavior and participation.  Throughout each unit, various assessments will be given, and at the conclusion of each unit, a quiz or worksheet will be given, which is also figured into the student's final quarter grade.

Current 8th Grade PE Unit

The current unit is Sportsfest.  Sportsfest is an annual class-versus-class competition, which is composed of different activities each class.  Students have 3 choices of activities each class.

Current 7th Grade PE Unit

The current unit is Softball.

Current 6th Grade Health Unit

Welcome to 6th Grade Health Quarter 3 and 4 students!  Our current unit we are discussing is Drugs and Alcohol.

TEPEE SUMMER CAMP!

The Timothy Edwards Physical Education Experience (TEPEE) is a new summer camp held here at TEMS the week after school ends (June 22nd - June 26th) from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  This experience will be conducted by two Health and Physical Education instructors from TEMS, myself and Mr. Edwards.  The program is designed for students entering grades 6-9. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in physical education units while incorporating the use of technology to monitor health benefits. Activities will include team games, cooperative learning and individual activities which emphasize the skills and strategies needed to perform each activity. This is a great opportunity for children to learn different ways to be active while meeting new friends and having fun! TEPEE will utilize the gym, weight room and grounds.

This camp is run through the South Windsor Recreation Department.  If you are interested in signing up please visit the SW Recreation Department website at http://recreation.southwindsor.org/
