![]() Hello my name is Mrs. Custer and I teach 6th and 8th grade PE and 7th grade Health. I am the field hockey coach and team leader for my department. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email me at scuster@swindsor.k12.ct.us FYI Regarding PE Students are expected to change into appropriate physical education attire each day. Appropriate attire includes t-shirts, shorts, sweats, sneakers, etc. The important thing is that the PE outfit is DIFFERENT than what the student wore to school. PE clothes must adhere to the school dress code! Every student gets their own lock and locker. Please ask your PE teacher if you have lost your lock or cannot remember your combination as soon as you enter the lockeroom. Please remember to lock up your locker at all times! We do not give out locker combinations unless it is your own! Students are graded daily on a 12 point scale: 2 points are for preparation, which includes being on time for class, and changing clothing. 10 points are for sportsmanship, attitude/behavior and participation. Throughout each unit, various assessments will be given. At the conclusion of each unit, a quiz, reflection, or worksheet will be given, which is also figured into the student's final quarter grade. I look forward to a wonderful year with your son or daughter. 6th grade PE students will begin the year with cooperative games(4 classes) to get to know one another and to get our feet and heart pumping again! Students will then move into our state physical fitness testing. Students are tested in the mile run, curl-up, push-up, and sit and reach test. Student scores will be sent to the state department at the completion of all 4 tests. 8th grade PE students will begin the year with our flag football unit and participate in the physical fitness testing in September and October. FYI Regarding 7th grade Health Students are expected to come prepared for each and every class. Each student needs to have a 1 inch binder for class. These binders can stay in class. Therefore, I only require a pen or pencil for each class period. I meet my health students every 2 out of the 6 day rotation. Assignments, tests, and quizzes are based on a point system. Our first unit in Health will be First Aid. I look forward to a fun and exciting year! |
