1. Read Chapter 2 section 1 in your textbook - pages 44-50.

2. Do the worksheet I handed out in class on Monday. You may do either page 41 or 42 of the worksheet.

3. Finish your field study. It is due Friday. I went over how it will be graded in class on Monday. If you would like to pick up a grade sheet early, you may get one from the basket on my lab desk. You will fill out one side of the grade sheet and I will grade your project on the other side. The conclusion questions are written on the field study information packet I gave to you on September 3. We also discussed food webs and producers, consumers and decomposers on Monday in class. Please see me if you have any questions. Notice that you can practice making a food web using one of the web links listed above.



If you lost your field study packet and need to find the conclusion questions, they are shown below:



FIELD STUDY CONCLUSION QUESTIONS

a. Name the producers, consumers, and decomposers in your area. (6pts.)



b. Diagram the food web for your area. (5 pts.)



c. Name the predators in your area. (2 pts.)



d. What might happen if the predators were removed from this community? (5 pts.)



e. How do you think this area has changed since development or how would it change if it were developed? (5 pts.)



f. How does this area fulfill the needs of the things that live there? (5 pts.)



g. If a new plant (such as dandelions or the Canada thistle) or a new animal (such as dogs, rats, cats, walking sticks or pike) were introduced to this area, how would it affect this ecosystem? (5 pts.)

1. Get your progress report signed by your parent/guardian. Progress reports were handed out on Monday, 9/22/08.

2. Study for a test on Chapter 1 of your book. This is a closed book test. A good way to study is to go over your worksheets and try out the side you did not do as homework.

3. Work on your field study. You should have all 7 journals done by this weekend. You need to a.) take pictures of your area, b.) collect samples of rocks, soil and plants and c.) estimate the population of the various living things in your area.

4. Go to one of the Corpus Clock websites listed above (if you can get it, I would highly recommend that you view the first site since it will allow you to see the clock in action). Once you have viewed or read through the information, send me an email telling me your name and one thing you found interesting about the clock. I would prefer that you email me from this site, by clicking on the link at the top of this page.

Remember, the more natural setting you choose for your field study, the more interesting and useful it will be.
